Vintage Mid-Century chair "Smile" designed in the 50/60s by designer Adam Stegner and produced by Pagholz - Flötotto (or Galvanitas). This cute old school chair, with the practical and also funny "smiley" (or heart-shaped) cutout in the backrest, is very popular and now a true vintage classic. It has a semi flexible one-piece curved seat and backrest, made of ‘Pagholz’ wood, on a steel frame with cross base (most likely by Thur-Op-Seat). The chair is signed on the bottom with the ‘Pagholz’ logo and number ‘15113’. The innovative Pagholz plywood has a warm brown color and is very resistant due to the injection manufacturing process of wood and resin, which makes it long-lasting and has earned its reputation. with it’s steel base and firm wooden seat and backrest this chair is very sturdy and gives a nice vintage and industrial touch. The wood has some minor signs of age/use, all appropriate to age and use. The paint on the base is damaged in some parts (see photos). The wood on the bottom of the seat needs some care, but this is not visible while standing.
