This Berkey and Gay china cabinet dates to the 1930's. It features applied embellishments and carvings. The double doors are painted and decorated with an Asian inspired theme. Two shelves are housed behind cabinet doors that lock, are painted red with an Asian scene in relief and are finished with gold details. A single drawer below opens with two drawer pulls with floral back plates. The case and baluster turned legs further enhance the cabinet, supported with a serpentine carved stretcher. Maker's label can be seen in the drawer. The entire piece is in near flawless condition considering its age. This was most likely designed by Japanese decorator Fugi Nakamiso who was recruited through American foreign embassies to bring his experience overseas, to work for Berkey & Gay. ** Hey there, don't miss out on checking out our other fantastic listings!
