This is a very substantial and heavy circa 1960s bookcase or china cabinet by the highly-touted furniture maker, Union National, with beveled glass doors, double plate rails, brass pulls, drop-down black leather-top writing surface, cubby holes and beautifully hand-painted Chinoiserie decorations. While it was in business, Union National made fewer than 20 of these breakfronts a year and each featured hand-painted artwork depicting birds, foliage and landscapes signed by the artist.
