An exceptionally rare “Skarabé” clamp lamp, designed by Stig Ahlström, Clas Kock, and Lars Bylund for Ateljé Lyktan in Åhus, Sweden. The Skarabé is one of the Swedish lighting studio's most iconic designs, combining functionalist precision with a distinct space-age aesthetic: The cylindrical head with its characteristic black ribbed rings, the curved, chrome-plated Z-arm, and the compact clamp base create an overall impression of rare design consistency. The lamp gets its name from the two adjustable reflector mirrors, which precisely direct the halogen light and whose shape is reminiscent of the mythical scarab beetle. The Skarabé is one of the Swedish lighting studio's most iconic designs. This is an exceptional collector's item in two respects: Firstly, the clamp-on version is by far the rarest model within the Scarab series – the vast majority of examples currently on the market are table or floor lamps. Secondly, the unusual color scheme is captivating: The warm, dark salmon pink stands out clearly from the common versions in white, black, or signal red, lending the lamp a subtle, almost textile warmth that one wouldn't expect from such a technically precise construction.
