Set Of 2 Old Christofle Coaster Silver Plated, Circa 1880

A very nice and high-quality set of 2 Old Christofle silver-plated, world-famous French factory, each bottle coaster, 19th century. Measures: D 16 cm, H 2.5cm.In 1852 Napoleon III ordered Christofle 4000 artistic pieces to entertain in great style at Tuileries castle. Part of these pieces, which can be seen now in the Art Decoratif, Louvre museum, were silver-plated as wars had cost a lot of money. But Christofle became very famous for these incredible pieces, some designed by the sculptor François Gilbert, imagine the main piece was 3 meters high!
