Antique Japanese Hibachi from the early 1900's made of elm (keyaki) with a custom glass top. The copper liner is original as well as the forged hardware. A metal platform has been added as well as the glass for a more useful height as a coffee or end table. Braziers like this one were used with charcoal to heat water for tea and sake as well as provide heat for the room they are in. This style is from the Tokyo region.
