Base of faux bamboo brass construction with four corner legs united by slender X-form stretchers. Legs terminate in cast paw feet. The brass shows natural patination with verdigris accents characteristic of age. Maison Baguès, active in Paris from 1840s through mid-20th century, specialized in bronze lighting and furniture with distinctive naturalistic motifs.
