Classic Unmarked 1950's Isamu Noguchi glass coffee Table made of a cerused walnut wood and thick glass top. The table consists of a continuous band of wood that has been ebonized and cut in two to create this perfect wishbone. This piece was produced in the early 1950's for the Birsfelden, Switzerland based furniture company Vitra. Isamu Noguchi (野口 勇, Noguchi Isamu, November 17, 1904 – December 30, 1988) was an American artist and landscape architect whose artistic career spanned six decades, from the 1920s onward. Known for his sculpture and public artworks, Noguchi also designed stage sets for various Martha Graham productions, and several mass-produced lamps and furniture pieces. Of the Period: Mid-Century Materials: Walnut, Glass Condition: Unmarked Glass and wood base in complete functional condition Wear: Consistent to age and use. Minor abrasions and some minimal color loss to ebonized wood base and a few very minor scratches to the glass.
