All original 1950s Paul Mccobb designed coffee table for Calvin Furniture Company, Grand Rapids, Michigan, signed with original metal name plaque. Possibly the ultimate piece to anchor a sitting area in your mid-century modern home or space. Embodies the low and very sleek mid-century modern ‘architectural’ look that only Paul Mccobb could create. The 15.25” inch height is perfectly matched for your low-slung mid-century modern sofas or chairs like Togo or Cameleonda. Heavy and solid but has a lightness to its appearance. Collectible, practical and functional; This completely original Mccobb coffee table gives you a large 6’ x 2’ expanse of 7/8” thick, cool black marble plus two discreet storage drawers and an open shelf. This came from the original owner where it was well-loved for nearly 70 years! Overall it is in good vintage/used condition commensurate with its age. Lots of honest wear and patina but nothing very objectionable. Just how we like it. Not restored. We just gave a light going over. Marble/stone top has light surface marks, blemishes, scratches, scuffs, spots, etc from use (mostly not that visible) and small “flea bites” on edges that are not too noticeable. Brass frame shows lots of surface patina/wear/oxidation but still has overall shine. Mahogany shelf and the outer sides containing the drawers are in good condition with blemishes, and some wear to finish and to corners/edges. The 2 drawers are in very nice shape; including the fronts; the interiors are very good and they slide smoothly. Original threaded leveling feet are intact and working. model no. 8706 designed circa 1952 Mahogany, marble/stone, brass. Measurements: Approx: 72” L x 24” D x 15.25” H
