Stunning and impressively sized "Chan" coffee table designed by Philip and Kelvin LaVerne, circa 1970s. Acid etched and patinated polychromed bronze and pewter. Table top decorated with Chinoiserie scene of figures in courtyard, with bamboo form legs. Raised "Philip + Kelvin LaVerne" signature on lower center of scene. The "Chan" motif was used on tables of many sizes with many different bases (these were often custom made of a particular client and made to order). This table is in exceptional condition given it's age. There are small white scuffs to legs of table. Minimal wear and minor scratches to patina of table top and legs (see close up images). It is a stunning piece of functional art. The father and son team of Philip (1907-1987) and Kelvin (1937-) LaVerne created custom, limited edition pieces of furniture that were both functional objects and stunning displays of artistry.
