1974 Davis Allen & Gordon Bunshaft Of Som Coffee Table Granite & Steel 4X Avail

1st Dibs

$4,500

This is a substantial Square Coffee Table in Polished Steel and Black Granite, custom-designed by Davis Allen and Gordon Bunshaft for SOM for use in the Sears Tower in 1973. SOM refers to the architectural firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill. The metalwork was likely done by Gerald R. Griffith, who was known for his exceptional craftsmanship and for working on SOM Chicago projects. The listed price includes one coffee table, and we have four identical tables available for purchase. Their black granite tops are scored in a geometric fashion, adding interest to the design. The polished steel bases are solid and substantial. Each table measures 42 inches long, 42 inches wide, and 17 inches high. The metal bases show some patina and some scuffs, and the granite tops show some light scuffs and scratches. Overall, these important tables are in very good condition. Please see photos.
