This substantial zataku, the traditional Japanese low table designed for floor seating, is built from richly figured rosewood with a dramatically striped grain that photographs beautifully from every angle. The floating panel top sits within a mitered frame, the legs are carved with scrolling relief detail at the knee, and the whole thing is joined without hardware, relying entirely on traditional joinery. It is a serious piece of furniture. Measures 29 inches wide by 29 inches deep by 12.75 inches tall. Good antique condition with a faint cup ring to the top surface and a hairline crack running along a board joint in the top panel, as shown in the photographs.
