Soft-geometry is an Indian design studio creating collectible furniture and home objects around a central theme of softness. Inspired by the rich, diverse object culture and craft-traditions of India, their objects are predominantly hand-made, bridging traditional and modern ways of making and seeing. Based in Kochi, India. "Softness is a degree, almost anything can be plotted along a soft-hard axis. There are soft materials - soft velvet, fur, felt, hair, wool and any others that are soft to touch. There are visual associations - pastel colors, billowy clouds, things without edges and the soft light of dawn or dusk. There are soft sounds - whispers, melodies, the rustle of leaves; and soft scents - the smell of rain, wet ground or faint perfume. More interestingly still, softness can be abstract - it is malleability, a willingness to learn or change, fluidity, humility, empathy, slowness, childlike innocence or imperfection."
