“Jason” cocktail table in stainless steel and glass by New York City designer and interior decorator Gary Gutterman. An exceptionally well-executed continuous form with the unusual feature of a segment that pierces the surface of the glass top, presented as “functional art” decades before the SOFA show. A rarely seen design produced for Axius Designs, signed and dated 1974. Gutterman began his career in the mid-1960s as an in-house designer for Helikon Furniture before co-founding Axius Designs in 1971. Axius became known for its offerings of custom designs and sizes.
