Italian Coffee Table In Carrara Marble From Skipper, 1970s

Chairish

$4,284

A substantial Italian marble coffee table, attributed to Skipper, dating from the late 20th century. Executed in pale veined marble with soft grey inclusions, the table has a strong architectural presence defined by clean lines and generous proportions. The thick rectangular marble top rests on four solid block supports, each carved from matching marble. These supports are not fixed, allowing the legs to be repositioned beneath the top, as shown in the accompanying photographs. This modular construction introduces both a practical and sculptural element, enabling subtle variation in stance and visual rhythm while maintaining the table’s monolithic character. The edges of the top are gently softened, contrasting with the crisp geometry of the legs and highlighting the natural veining and polished surface of the stone. The overall design reflects the Italian postmodern and architectural furniture movement of the period, where mass, material, and flexibility were combined with refined restraint. An imposing yet elegant piece, suitable for minimalist, modernist, or architectural interiors, where its material quality and adaptable structure can be fully appreciated. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
