A heavy wrought iron, nicely Vintaged gold leaf gilded base supporting a slightly raised 3/4" beveled glass top. The table features classic Mid-Century French details: gracefully angular top and square tapering legs connected to a stunningly-designed, X-shaped stretcher with and open center motif. The table's strong and rectilinear design is a masterful expression of the neoclassical movement that emerged in the 1750s, as the Age of Enlightenment flowered in Europe. Its tapered lines and clean aesthetics are typical of a timeless, refined look--symmetrical, ordered and dignified--that gracefully compliments traditional and moderns spaces alike. The table is in very good vintage condition with minor gilt loss consistent with age and use.
