An original first edition of the Massolo coffee table by Gufram, produced in Italy during the 1970s. A key piece from the Radical Design movement, the table is made of sculpted polyurethane foam with a hand-finished coating that convincingly mimics the look and weight of solid stone—despite being unexpectedly light. The word “PORFIDO” (Italian for porphyry) is engraved on the surface, referencing the volcanic stone it imitates.Unlike the more recent re-editions, this vintage example is a rare early production model, highly sought after by collectors. The table remains structurally sound and usable.
