Notch Bean Coffee Table

The Notch II coffee table is built from two solid pedestal legs and a large bean-shaped white oak top.This collection finds its foundation in ‘cribbage’, a rough-cut lumber used to build support structures called ‘cribs’ in coal mines. This material which would otherwise go to waste, is recycled, hand-cut, and charred to create the pedestal base at the root of this collection. A visual connection is easily made between the harsh and sporadic dark forms and the raw minerals drawn from the earth.
