Oval Coffee Table In Walnut And Brass From Nicolay Diulgheroff, Italy, 1950s

Chairish

$4,685

Rare and sculptural oval coffee table attributed to Nicolay (Nicolas) Diulgheroff, a key figure of Italian Futurism active across art, architecture, and design. This piece perfectly embodies his dynamic and forward-looking language: a finely crafted wooden base unfolds into four elegant, curved arms, creating a sense of movement and tension. The structure appears almost organic—fluid yet precise—combining aerodynamic lines with a strong sculptural presence. The central joint is particularly striking, where the four elements merge into a carved, star-like form before extending outward into slender, tapered legs. Each leg is finished with refined brass sabots, adding a subtle decorative accent while enhancing the overall balance. The oval glass top appears to float above the base, resting on discreet supports that preserve the visual lightness and allow the underlying structure to remain the focal point. The transparency of the glass enhances the interplay of lines and volumes. The wood has been expertly restored and finished in traditional shellac polish, highlighting the richness of the grain and giving depth and warmth to the surface. The craftsmanship is evident in the smooth transitions and seamless curves throughout the piece. Fully restored in our atelier with great respect for the original design. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
