ROU Materiaal's sculptures come from woods that are treated in a way that combines the use of techniques that enhance natural veins or imperfections with others that give a more contemporary texture. The link between a "primitive" material world and the search for contemporary forms and textures represents the leitmotif of ROU Materiaal's poetics. Art and design come together in a unique work. The raw materials used in the manufacturing process differ every time, consequently, there may be natural variations that are not to be considered product flaws.
