Showa Era Takamaki-e Urushi lacquer low table with life-edge border. Origin is likely Wajima or Yamanaka region.The tea table 43" long, 30" wide and 12.5" high. This one of a kind piece was brought to the US from Japan around 1940s or 1950's. The central imagery features mountains, pine tress, winding staircase and a temple, created in 3D relief and detailed in colored pigments. This table serves as both a functional piece of furniture and a complex work of art. There is a hand-painted craftsman's mark inside of the one of the legs.
