19th Century French Louis XIV Walnut Marble Top Console is a truly rare find! Sculpted from solid French walnut, it displays the classically inspired architecture with Baroque-influenced embellishment that is the hallmark of the Louis XIV genre. An acanthus plume reaches up from the plinth block on the floor towards a boldly scrolled main section of the corbel which also features an acanthus leaf in full relief. The sides have been adorned with foliate bas relief for visual interest from any angle. The luxuriously veined Griotte marble top is carefully contoured and beveled to produce an elegant yet carefree surface, and are almost four feet in width making this console quite the useful surface for decorating, as well as beautifying the room all on its own! What's more, if you act fast, a "twin" is available as of this writing! Circa 1870s Measures 35H x 47W x 18.5D
