An exceptionally well carved Irish Chippendale mahogany console table, the rectangular figured brown marble in hues of pink, gray and white, rising on a pierced and carved apron top lays above a walnut burl veneered frieze with fine repeating lobe carvings. Centered by a shell motif flanked by acanthus leaf scrolls, on cartouche carved cabriole legs, the knees carved with acanthus, terminating in claw and ball feet. Inspired by an Irish original, circa 1760.
