A monumental Italian Louis XIV style "Belle Epoque" giltwood console table. Belle Epoque (The Age of Excellence) takes inspiration from the very beginning of the French Golden Age of furniture in the 18th Century. The period itself began in France, mid-19th century, then spread to England, the continent and finally, to America. It ended in the early 1910s. This beautiful example features an ornate giltwood frame decorated with a scalloped center, intricate foliate motif, gadrooning and fanciful aprons. The top showcases a marbled painted geometric design. Long Legs are square tapered with scrolled design element over embellishments, acanthus flare, foliate and medallions. The four legs are connected on each side from front to back with an x-form stretcher, and joined at the center by an ornately scrolled stretcher leading to central acanthus finial. A true work of art. Dimensions: 26.6" x 76" x 37.5"
