Breccia Verde Marble + Bent‐glass Console Table, Europe Circa 1970

Chairish

$6,200

A dance of light and mass, this console epitomizes the very moment—circa 1970—when European ateliers first mastered the effortless union of stone and glass. The desk‑height top, cut from a single sheet of tempered plate glass, sweeps into a seamless leg thanks to pioneering Italian bending techniques developed around 1969–’72. Opposite, a solid breccia verde marble pedestal anchors the piece in ancient geological gravitas: its softly matte polish and crisp pyramidal form reflect the slab‑yard prototypes of early‑’70s Milan, before the high‑gloss marble trends of the next decade took hold. Together, these two elements create an elegant dialogue of solid and void—transparent arc meets forest‑green weight—that feels both modernist and utterly warm. Ideal as a sculptural desk, refined console or gallery‑worthy credenza, it brings the quiet tension of mid‑century material innovation to any interior. Condition: The marble base remains structurally sound, its surface polished to a soft sheen and free of significant chips or cracks—only the expected light surface wear. The glass top shows crisp, polished edges with no large chips or clouding; two slighly noticeable nicks on the edge is purely cosmetic and does not affect stability. Overall, this console is in excellent vintage condition and ready for everyday use.
