An exceptional antique French first empire marble-topped figured mahogany console table, circa 1800. The rectangular Belgian black-gray flecked marble top surmounts a conforming frieze with a long drawer, without hardware, the handholds underneath. Supported by front scrolled legs with gilt-metal paw caps, the rear legs are rectangular and molded at the bottom. All raised on an incurved serpentine platform stretcher base with swelled ends, suppressed disk feet in front, and suppressed square feet in back.
