A French 19th century mahogany console in the Empire style with dark stone top. The dense, marbleized stone of charcoal-hue is more recent in age but its faux leather finish has imparted a texture that feels much older, complementing the grain patterns in the wood. A shallow apron houses a hidden drawer, providing inconspicuous but convenient storage when used for an entry console or drop area. The top section rises from two architectural columns with carved wood bases and capitals, enclosed by flat planks at the back to sit flush against the wall. A low plinth base juts out slightly around each column, bracing the console structurally and creates another surface for display or storage. Cleaned and polished with a French paste wax, ready for your interior.
