An impressive silver-gilt Italian console from the late 18th century. The worn and patinated white marble top is smooth and makes for a durable surface to use at an entryway, hall, or other living space. The base is hand-carved with floral swags, bows and a jovial face in the center, perhaps the welcoming image of Bacchus. The square legs taper to the floor, draped with foliate carvings. Due to its age and nature of the narrow legs, you’ll find forged iron brackets on the back legs for additional support, a repair from long ago that extends the life of such an extraordinary antique for the next generation.
