Charles X style lasted from 1818-1834 and happened during the Bourbon Restoration. This style did not totally replace the style from the French Empire, the simplicity of the French Empire was still visible, but shapes became curvier with volutes and arabesques. Decorative elements from the Monarchy were highly appreciated again, as they suggested luxury. Marquetry work, like seen in the apron and legs of this console, was particularly fashionable. This beautiful marble top cherry veneer console would be a lovely addition to most any room in your home. Marquetry work on both the inside, as well as the outside of the legs, makes for a beautiful presentation no matter which direction viewing it from.
