The amount of work that went into making this Maitland-Smith foyer table is remarkable! The top is made from pieces of beige agate that were cut and arranged so precisely to create a smooth surface. The three stylized dolphins that form the base are carved from wood and embellished with a layer of silver paint that resembles silver leaf. It doesn't completely fill in every detail of the wood carving, giving it the impression that it is silver leaf that has been applied painstakingly one sheet at a time. The dolphins are anchored by a tripod base that is covered in beige agate that matches the top, all of which rests upon three silver gilt bun feet. I love Maitland-Smith furniture, and I find this foyer table absolutely delightful! It is in remarkably good condition. There is a small area on one of the dolphins where the silver paint has cracked (refer to picture 16). The agate top is in very good condition with no missing pieces or cracks. I photographed this foyer table outside on a sunny February afternoon. It will invariably look different when viewed in an interior setting under artificial light. Please take this into consideration when matching colors. The two green patio chairs in picture 18 are not included with the table. I photographed them with the table to give a better idea of the size of the table. They are currently available for purchase in a separate listing.
