An Italian trestle-leg wooden console table, with decorative forged-iron stretcher, from the 18th century. This antique table from Italy features a rectangular-shaped top, which is raised upon a pair of tilted, saw-horse styled turned legs. Each leg side has a pair of carved wood beams supporting them half-way down and just above their feet. The underside of the table is braced by a beautifully hand-forged ogee arch iron stretcher, reminiscent of a bell shape, and creates visual interest and further embellishment to this piece. Please note that there is some slight bowing to the top. The wood has a rich, and warm patina; a reflection of it's history and age. This 18th century Italian iron stretcher table, with a slender depth of just 14.5 inches, is a beautifully versatile piece- perfect for where a smaller footprint is needed.
