Chairish

$3,051

An elegant French-made Louis XVI-style wall console table dating back to the second half of the 18th century. This antique piece perfectly embodies the neoclassical aesthetic of the era, characterized by a return to symmetry and formal rigor, embellished with ornamental motifs of Greco-Roman inspiration. Main Features: Structure and Carving: The base is entirely made of finely carved and gilded wood. The band beneath the top features a "pod-shaped frieze" or denticulation decoration typical of the period, enriched with elegant garlands of laurel leaves falling in festoons, a symbol of glory and nobility. Supports: The two "curve and counter-curve" front uprights are finely carved with leaf motifs and are connected to the base by shaped elements. Central Element: At the center of the crosspiece stands a refined neoclassical vase with square handles and a flamed top, a highly valuable decorative detail that lends balance and verticality to the overall effect. Top: The console table is completed by its original white Carrara marble top, shaped to follow the broken profile of the underlying structure. Technical Details: Period: Louis XVI (circa 1770-1790) Origin: France Materials: Carved wood, gold leaf gilding, marble. Condition: Excellent overall condition. The gilding features a beautiful antique patina with small signs of aging that attest to its authenticity and enhance its historical charm. Dimensions: 83 x 36 cm, height 85 cm.
