Vintage postmodern console or hallway table crafted from solid maple burl, custom made in the US in the 1990s. Owing to the cost and difficulty of sourcing suitable pieces from which to build, solid burl wood furniture is exceptionally rare. The tabletop has a slightly bowed form, deepest at the center and narrowing towards the edges. The legs, with their exaggerated curves, resemble the trunk of an elephant. The wood possesses a rich, golden color with incredible chatoyance and highly figured grain patterns. The original owner had two of these tables made. We acquired both and have the other available in a separate listing. In excellent condition with light signs of prior use visible only on very close inspection. Note: the depth measurement provided below reflects the overall depth of the piece, accounted for by the curvature of the legs. The depth of the tabletop is 10.5 inches at the center.
