Antique sculpted oak corner chair, Italian made, entirely in Renaissance style, second half of the 19th century, around 1880. This is an antique replica of an older model; the seat is upholstered in red velvet fabric, the cushion is filled with horsehair, a putti is visible centrally on the chair frame, the armrests are finished with small lion's heads, and bird heads can be seen in the backrest. The whole piece is extensively decorated with acanthus leaves; it is very high-quality workmanship for that period. The chair bears a beautiful patina of age and use; one leg has warped slightly over the years, there is a large chip from another leg, and old traces of woodworm.
