19th Century Renaissance Revival Louis Xiii Style Sofa In Solid Oak

Chairish

$1,280

19th century Renaissance Revival sofa crafted in solid oak and executed in the enduring Louis XIII style. The architectural frame is defined by bold barley twist supports, turned stretchers, and a richly carved crest rail adorned with scrolling foliate ornament. The openwork back features symmetrical Renaissance motifs that lend refinement while preserving the strength and dignity characteristic of the period. The seat height aligns precisely with the matching armchairs from the same parlor suite, allowing the pieces to function beautifully together as a unified seating arrangement. When placed side by side, the sofa and armchairs create a balanced and historically inspired composition suitable for a living room, library, den, or study. The oak has matured to a deep, warm patina that enhances the carving and highlights the natural grain, reflecting the craftsmanship of 19th century cabinetmaking during the height of the Renaissance Revival movement. Originally conceived as part of a formal parlor ensemble, this sofa served as the central anchoring piece of the suite. It is offered alongside the matching armchairs and side chairs from the same setting, which together form an impressive and cohesive grouping. Upholstery is in serviceable condition and may be reupholstered as desired. If you act fast, the original matching pair of armchairs and set of 4 side chairs are still available as of this writing. Circa 1870s Measures 48H x 62.5W x 23.5D; seat 17.5H
