Freeform sofa is a design item realized by isamu noguchi produced by vitra. Wood and fabric sofa. Vitra original label and plate with reference number 0977. Good condition but with a little fading on fabric. Originally designed in 1950, this iconic model was produced in a very limited edition, which is now top rare. Isamu noguchi (1904 – 1988) the japanese american artist and landscape architect is best-known for his sculpture and public artworks: noguchi also designed stage sets for martha graham productions. He produced lamps and furniture pieces, still manufactured and sold. In 1947, noguchi began a collaboration with the herman miller company. His production is still hold at the noguchi museum in new york city (long island). This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker.
