Limes New is a sofa that upholds Saba’s philosophical approach to a larger furnishing project: “Everything slides, everything changes” elaborates Parmenide, who ignited the creative process and guided it through the research phases from the early 2000’s. Limes New is an invitation to go beyond the conventions of predefined space, showcasing how it can become something else altogether simply by moving the back rests. Limes New is a story to tell renewed through sartorial and technical detailing: the asymmetric cut of the back cushions improves support in the lower back. Research into new materials allows the sensation of softness from the goose down filling to come through and guarantees a superior comfort. The volumes have been subtly updated in line with the contemporary aesthetic to include cylindrical armrests in homage to the classic latin heritage. Fascinated by the world that surrounded him, he eagerly devoted himself to researching building forms and techniques which have borne fruit for the companies in which he worked. In 1991 he opened his studio as an independent designer and in 1993 he came across Saba Italia. New challenges and new incentives lead to the creation of the “nomad sofa”: Taos, Ananta, Limes, Nesting, Pixel. Creations that were born from reflection of new desires that encourage us to live in a less formal way, equipped with systems that enable change with simple gestures, by playing with shapes.Structure: In wood padded with polyurethane foam 30IP covered with velfodera on a polyester fiber coated backing 150gr/sqm. The back and armrest supports are in metal with glossy chromed or black nickel finish, and are available with a fabric cover or with bands of fabrics coupled with pressed 300gr/sqm.Feet: In transparent methacrylate with rectangular section or in metal with black nickel finish.Padding: The seat cushions are made with variable density polyurethane foam (40IP and 40 soft and flexible to slow return), covered fine velvet coupled with polyester fiber 280gr/sqm. The back and rectangular armrest cushions are in washed and sterilized goose down and 100% polyester fiber divided into sections and covered with 100% white cotton fabric. The roll armrest is filled with polyurethane foam 30IP and covered with cotton fodera coupled with polyester fiber 380gr/sqm.
