Known for his signature sense of nostalgia, designer Yaniv Chen shares the story behind the Drapery Table—an evocative piece carved in Italy from a single block of travertine. Produced by master artisans near Verona, the table reflects Italy’s deep tradition of stone craftsmanship and Chen’s ongoing dialogue with memory and material. The design was sparked by a photograph taken by Nan Goldin in 2010, which reminded him of his grandmother’s home. In the image, a grand entrance hall table was draped in heavy jacquard fabric, its folds pooling onto the floor in soft waves and scallops. Chen translated that fleeting domestic scene into something enduring—an impression that lives on in stone. The result is a sculptural piece that feels both monumental and tender, capturing a moment of softness in an otherwise solid material.
