Here's a beautiful daybed that blends Hollywood Regency with Danish Modern. It has been newly upholstered in vintage age appropriate fabric. The bolsters are also of vintage age appropriate fabric that contrast nicely to the cushions. High density foam was used to make for a firm mattress if it is used for resting. The frame was manufactured in Yugoslovia (Slovenia) in the 1960s. The Yugoslovians were known for creating knock offs of Danish designs and this piece is no exception. It strongly resembles a Peter Hvidt creation. He often used caned pieces for chairs and daybeds, which can be seen on this design. Chevron lines on side panels were meant to woo the American consumer. Original stained wood is either beech or maple native to the area it was created. Overall, the remake is stellar and worthy of many settings from sunroom to bedroom to sitting room.
