Mid-Century daybed by Dutch manufacturer Auping, in the style of Friso Kramer. The white enameled metal frame features gently curved legs and a low, horizontal profile. Inset green stained wood end panels sit at both head and foot, each with a slightly rolled upper edge. Beneath the new Castro beige fabric mattress, a mesh spring support provides the sleeping surface.Auping, founded in 1888 in Doetinchem, Netherlands, became a leading producer of functional sleeping furniture during the postwar period. Friso Kramer, one of the most significant Dutch industrial designers of the 20th century, contributed designs to Auping in the 1950s and 1960s that reflected a rationalist, functionalist approach — clean metal frames combined with minimal wood detailing.
