The Hashi Bench is a modular seating object composed of two orthogonal upholstered blocks suspended above a recessed wood base. The lower platform is constructed from engineered wood with a quarter-cut oak veneer finish, CNC-milled to form a continuous concave arc along its span, referencing structural bridge typologies. The upholstery elements include a central cushion with medium-firm density foam and an inset, upholstered armrest positioned at midpoint, disrupting bilateral symmetry and creating an intentional offset in visual weight. The backrest is integrated into the left seating module, creating a functional division between lounge and recline zones. All radii and edges follow a tight curvature tolerance (6–10mm fillets), and vertical seams are aligned with the base’s longitudinal axis to emphasize proportion and grounding. Gliders are inset and hidden beneath each foot to allow for minimal shadow lift and platform floating effect. Designed for residential and hospitality applications, the bench functions as both a standalone sculpture and a practical seating typology.Contact us to enquire about COM/COL production, requirements and material shipping instructions. Please contact us if you have any questions about customization and pricing.
