Stunning and rare sunbed or lounge chair attributed to Jean Royere or Matthew Mategot. Looking at the more classic approach of for instants the sides of the sunbed or the "golden" (brass) solid balls it is most likely Royere. The sunbed remains in a good yet unrestored conditions so it still has the old "feel" and character. The bed can be taken apart in three sections for storing. There is no second one like this one known. Some look like it but the don't have the classic touch or big brass balls. The brass balls are a kind of signature in the work of Jean Royere. This piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no official proof of authenticity, however it is well documented in design history. I take full responsibility for any authenticity issues arising from misattribution
