Ercol Model 355 day bed from the 1960s. Solid elm construction throughout. Large curved elm backrest attaches via metal mounting brackets to create fixed angled seating position. Windsor-style spindle arms with steam-bent curved rails and turned spindles socketed into seat frame. Four tapered legs connected to seat frame using mortise and tenon joinery. Elastic webbing support platform remains original and functional. Seat and bolster cushions newly upholstered in teal blue fabric over fresh high-density foam. Backrest mounts securely for use as sofa; removes to convert to single bed platform. Blue "Made in Ercol England" label present on underside of seat frame.
