three Cleopatra daybeds, Dick Cordemeijer for Auping, circa 1954three Cleopatra daybeds. A breakthrough for the Auping bed company designed by Dick Cordemeijer. It was originally envisioned as a sofa bed which could transform into a living room sofa by adding cushions, making it perfect for the often relatively small Dutch post-war homes. The Cleopatra gets its name from the ancient Egyptian-inspired curved end boards. It is built out of steel and solid teak and the legs simply unscrew to facilitate transport or storage.
