Antique Delft faience presentier double dish with handle. This 18th-Century presentier (which is translated to present or to offer) is hand molded and hand painted with a delicate polychrome floral geometric pattern and border. It was probably used for serving oil and vinegar or sweetmeats at the end of the meal. Delft faience is a tin glazed earthenware that was made to imitate and compete with the Chinese ceramics coming to the West via the East India Company in the 18th - 19th centuries. These wares were high coveted then and are have become very collectible today
