Made of solid copper and finished with a hand-hammered silver plate, the bowl features a dramatic wide rim inlaid with richly variegated malachite—a material synonymous with Castillo’s organic, luxurious aesthetic.This sculptural two-handled form showcases the fluid shapes and artisan techniques that have made Emilia Castillo one of the most recognized contemporary voices in Taxco’s silversmithing tradition. The piece retains its full hallmark:“Emilia Castillo, Mexico, M.R., Plateado, TO-85.”Emilia Castillo is part of one of Mexico’s most influential artistic dynasties. She is the daughter of Antonio Castillo, one of the founding brothers of the legendary Los Castillo workshop—an atelier that reshaped 20th-century Mexican design and elevated Taxco into a global center of innovative silverwork.
