With my dedication to slow living andthe art of noticing, I hope my work can inspire others to reconnect,in a world that feels very disconnected.My latest work explores the creation of a perfectly symmetrical piece,adding a distressed surface texture using rocks to imprint the clay,then intentionally breaking away to give the piece raw edges and aweathered appearance. To me this act is liberating, symbolizing thedestruction of the constraints of perfectionism that I’ve always feltbound by.As I continue with my experimentation, sustainability is at theforefront of my mind. I have begun working with wild clay fromacross the Pacific Northwest and will continue to deepen myknowledge of the material. Striving to create my art solely from whatthe landscape provides. My work will transmute through time, as Iexplore these new elements and techniques.The practice of working with raw materials from the earth has hadsubstantial grounding and therapeutic effects. When working withclay you have no choice but to become fully immersed.
