An exquisite, hand hammered brass decorative bowl or planter by Egidio Casagrande, Italy. This bowl has an Art Deco feel, in blossom lotus form, consisting of 18 scalloped petals. Maker's stamp and design number 57 on bottom. Beautiful untouched golden brass with a hint of copper patina. This piece was masterfully shaped using only one single piece of brass. Edigio Casagrande (b.1911-d.1962) was a prolific brass and copper designer who lived and worked in his native Italy, mostly in Borgo Valsugana, in the Trento province. He made sculptures as well as bowls and vases, etc. His works have been used in Hollywood motion pictures such as ‘Ben Hur’ and ‘The Ten Commandments’.
