Antique Chinese Sancai Glazed Ceramic Jarlet, Tang Dynasty. A squat globular ceramic, created as part of burial furniture, a small container with slightly inverted mouthrim and flattened bottom. The bulbous form glazed on the shoulder in the traditional “Sancai” (three-color lead based glaze) of yellow, green and white in spots running down the sides creating an “egg and spinach” effect. The underside and interior unglazed revealing the pinkish beige biscuit.Tang Dynasty (618-907)Condition: Some minor glaze flakes at the mouth and body, minor signs of age and wear, exterior surface washed with some silt residue on the interior and along the exterior glaze line, otherwise fine.Size: 2.25 in. high x 3.625 in. in diameter (57mm x 92mm in diameter).Weight: 5.5 oz.
