Antique Japanese Stoneware storage jar from the 17th -18th century. Handmade and built with thick walls in heavy stoneware clay. The walls are thick and ridged in a series of rising rings and tops with a raised neck and recessed lid support. The clay color is a deep umber red tone which has oxidized with age to a soft greyish chocolate. The measurements are 9.25" tall and 8" in diameter.
